The
Southwest Florida Symphony Youth Orchestra, led by musical Director, Michael A.
Simpson, is an auditioned group of the best young musicians from Lee
and surrounding counties. An important outreach activity of the Southwest
Florida Symphony, the Youth Orchestra provides quality symphonic training
and performance experience for young musicians as they develop their skills.
The Youth Orchestra rehearses weekly, September through April, with assistance from professional musicians who share their knowledge and experience. The Orchestra presents up to five concerts per year, two at Barbara B. Mann Performing Arts Hall in Fort Myers.
The Youth Orchestra is comprised of the Symphony and the Sinfonietta. The Symphony is an advanced full symphonic orchestra. The Sinfonietta is a quality intermediate string orchestra. Mrs. Nanette Grant leads the Sinfonietta while Michael A. Simpson directs the Symphony.
